Happiness and satisfaction have been reached. On one hand, you are fascinated by age, because it implies maturity, experience, and the ability to judge. On the other hand, it represents fear of getting old. Are you afraid of being less attractive? It is the archetype of wisdom.
The question here is: What is really important in your life and where do you want to go from here? How do you see yourself? In practical terms, this is mostly a question of taking life and its problems and fears more calmly.
The old man / old woman is and always has been the symbol of the teacher. Often, it also represents the grandfather or grandmother of the dreamer or even the dreamer him / herself. This image may also express a desire for greater peacefulness. Standing at the outside of society looking in, like the Alchemist. Gaining freedom since one has nothing to lose.
Need for security, desire for magical powers, which points to regression. Unconsciously wishing for a stronger personality and individuation. It is important what the amulet looks like and what it is to protect. Talisman in Arabian means “magic picture,” and in a dream it can also point to one’s having illusions and false hopes.
Psychological / emotional perspective: When we dream of bathing someone, it shows the need to nurture or to have an intimate connection with another person. We may have knowledge which can help or heal.
Material aspects: When we dream of being in the bath, it may indicate the need for cleansing of some old feelings, the need to relax, to let go. We have an opportunity to contemplate what has occurred in the past and to adopt new attitudes.
To be wearing a bathing costume denotes a degree of permitted exposure.
The meaning of this dream depends entirely upon what is happening.
If it is in tbe open and the water is clear, then it shows success in business. But if the water is dirty, or muddy, or choked with weeds, then you may expect difficulty and trouble in you* work or profession.
If you are yourself taking a Bath indoors, it is not a good sign. I f the water is cold, it shows sorrow ; if hot, then separation from some friend or loved one, perhaps a quarrel if steam is seen.
To see yourself naked is a good sign in itself, but you must not be in water. See CLOTHES.

For a widow or widower, remarriage. Bathing in clear water, business expansion or renovation about the home. Physiologically, dreams of bathing may be due to physical discomfort. Psychologically they imply a guilt complex.
Bathing in the river or sea and not experiencing any fear, panic or humiliation suggest deliverance from afflictions: if the observer of the dream is grief stricken, his grief will be removed an replaced with happiness; if he is suffering from a disease or sickness, he will be cured; if he is in straitened circumstances, Allah will grant him relief; if he is afflicted with debts, Allah will have them fulfilled; if he is imprisoned, Allah will grant him freedom. All this is in the light of this Qur’anic verse wherein He commands Ayyoob (AS) : Strike with you foot. This spring of water is for bathing, cooling and drinking. And We granted him his family and doubled their number as a special grace from ourselves and a commemoration for all who have understanding.

If the water in the tub is clear: a danger is passing, a situation is clearing up. Swimming in a lake with many waves: use your skills to solve a difficult problem and you will succeed! Swimming in murk)’ water points to a negative environment. See Brook, Foam, Water.
Depth Psychology: Dreams about swimming or bathing always point to an emotional cleansing, like a rebirth. Even if other people are bathing or being bathed, the dream always means your own renewal and cleansing.
(Beads; Chaplet; Necklace; Pearls; Prayer beads; Women) In a dream, he is a man who embellishes women’s apparels or sells them. When a beads salesman is seen in a dream, he represents a man who interferes with or deals in women’s businesses. (Also see Prayer beads)

A creature of myth, symbolic of excitement and temptation, the anima in her heavenly and at the same time animalistic role threatening and destroying. Also a symbol of the wise woman (for instance, night owl) and a symbol of death.
Vision: Seeing or dealing with a businessman: your chances of winning are improving.
If you are the businessman, you would like to go into business for yourself.
If you are dating a businessman: an important conference in the near future.
Depth Psychology: The businessman is a symbol of your material outlook as well as financial—or intellectual—accomplishments. Sometimes such a dream might also be a warning that you are too egotistical and materialistic. What or whom do you want “to buy”?
(Candy shop) In a dream, a candy salesman represents a kind and a gentle person. Ifhe receives money for his candies in the dream, it means that he praises people with kind words and they praise him back with better words. (Also see Candy maker)
if a person sees himself carrying a dead person in any manner other than the normal manner of carrying a bier or corpse it means he will carry a burden of haraam wealth. Some interpreters say that the same dream could mean that he is spending his wealth on some pervert.
If a person sees himself as carrying a dead person in a normal way it means he will either obey and follow the ruler of the time or he will take upon himself some of his responsibilities.
To dream that you send for a clergyman to preach a funeral sermon, denotes that you will vainly strive against sickness and to ward off evil influences, but they will prevail in spite of your earnest endeavors.
If a young woman marries a clergyman in her dream, she will be the object of much mental distress, and the wayward hand of fortune will lead her into the morass of adversity. See Minister.

See Ten Commandments.
(Agreement; Consent) Consenting to obey God’s commands in a dream or conformance with the divine laws in a dream means love for one’s brethren, associating with the righteous ones and renouncing the fellowship of evil companions.
To dream of the dead, is usually a dream of warning.
If you see and talk with your father, some unlucky transaction is about to be made by you. Be careful how you enter into contracts, enemies are around you. Men and women are warned to look to their reputations after this dream.
To see your mother, warns you to control your inclination to cultivate morbidness and ill will towards your fellow creatures.
A brother, or other relatives or friends, denotes that you may be called on for charity or aid within a short time.
To dream of seeing the dead, living and happy, signifies you are letting wrong influences into your life, which will bring material loss if not corrected by the assumption of your own will force.
To dream that you are conversing with a dead relative, and that relative endeavors to extract a promise from you, warns you of coming distress, unless you follow the advice given you. Disastrous consequences could often be averted if minds could grasp the inner workings and sight of the higher or spiritual self.
The voice of relatives is only that higher self taking form to approach more distinctly the mind that lives near the material plane. There is so little congeniality between common or material natures that persons should depend upon their own subjectivity for true contentment and pleasure. Paracelsus says on this subject: ``It may happen that the soul of persons who have died perhaps fifty years ago may appear to us in a dream, and if it speaks to us we should pay special attention to what it says, for such a vision is not an illusion or delusion, and it is possible that a man is as much able to use his reason during the sleep of his body as when the latter is awake; and if in such a case such a soul appears to him and he asks questions, he will then hear that which is true. Through these solicitous souls we may obtain a great deal of knowledge to good or to evil things if we ask them to reveal them to us. Many persons have had such prayers granted to them. Some people that were sick have been informed during their sleep what remedies they should use, and after using the remedies, they became cured, and such things have happened not only to Christians, but also to Jews, Persians, and heathens, to good and to bad persons.’’ The writer does not hold that such knowledge is obtained from external or excarnate spirits, but rather through the personal _Spirit Glimpses_ that is in man.--AUTHOR.
If you dreamed that you were dead, this is actually a positive omen. It symbolizes renewal and letting go of an old stage of life. This is also a common dream when you are getting over an illness, and are getting better. However, if you dreamed of dying slowly, you need to drastically change your routine and reenergize your life.
To dream that someone you care about is dead, suggests that you are lacking a certain quality that the loved one represents. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about them. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances.
To see dead people in your dream who you do not know in real life, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on. However, if you spoke with someone who is dead, you may soon hear very good news.
To dream of someone dead coming to life again suggests that you miss them and are trying to relive your old experiences you had with them. Also look up “Zombie”
Many dreams of dead people come from women who have lost their husband. It is common to have disturbing dreams for some period afterwards; or not be able to dream about the husband (or wife) at all; or to see the partner in the distance but not get near. In accepting the death, meeting any feelings of loss, grief, anger and continuing love, the dream may become as below.
The example both shows the resolution of the loss, but also the paradox felt at realising the meeting was an inner reality. Example: ‘A couple of months ago as I was waking I felt my husband’s arm across me and most realistically experienced my hand wrapping around his arm and turning towards him (which I had done so often in his lifetime) and saying “1 thought you had died. Thank God you have not.” Then I awoke alone and terribly shaken’ (Mrs I).
A critic might say this is only a dream in which a lonely woman is replaying memories of her dead husband’s presence for her own comfort—thus her disappointment on being disillusioned. Whatever our opinion, the woman has within her such memories to replay. These are reality.
The inner reality is of what experience was left within her from the relationship. Her challenge is whether she can meet this treasure with its share of pain, and draw out of it the essence which enriches her own being. That is the spiritual life of her husband.
The aliveness’ of her husband in that sense is also social, because many other people share memories of him. What arises in their own lives from such memories is the observable influence of the now dead person.
But the dead also touch us more mysteriously, as in the next example. Example: In a recent news programme on television, a man who survived a Japanese prisoner of war camp in Singapore had been given a photograph of children by a dying soldier he did not know.
The man had asked him to tell his family of his death, but did not give his name.
The photograph was kept for 40 odd years, the man still wanting to complete his promise but not knowing how. One night he dreamt he was told the man’s name. Enquiries soon found the family of the man, who had an identical photograph. See husband under family.
1- Dead people we have known appearing in dreams usually refer back to strong emotions we have had about those people, whether they are negative or positive.
For instance, there may be unresolved anger or guilt we still hold and the only wav we can deal with it is within a dream sequence.
2- Memories can remain buried for years and often when people who have died appear in dreams, we are being reminded of different times, places or relationships which will help us to deal with present situations.
3- To dream of dead people may suggest a link of a spiritual nature to our long-forgotten ancestors.
To dream of dead people may suggest a link of a spiritual nature to our long-forgotten ancestors, and may deal with family patterns of belief. Loved ones who have died appearing in dreams show that the veil between this world and the next is very thin.
Psychological / emotional perspective: Memories can remain buried for years and often when people who have died appear in dreams, we are being reminded of different times, places or relationships which will help us to deal with present situations.
To see dead people in your dream, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on.
If you spoke with someone who is dead, you will soon hear very good news.
Example: ‘My husband’s mother, no longer alive, came and slid her arms carefully under me and lifted me up. I shouted “Put me down! Put me down! I don’t want to go yet.” She carefully lowered me on to the bed and disappeared’ (EH). Most dreams in which dead people appear are expressive of our attempts to deal with our feelings, guilt or anger in connection with the person who died, or our own feelings about death. In the example the dreamer is feeling fear about being carried off by death.
When someone close to us dies we go through a period of change from relating to them as an external reality, to meeting and accepting them as alive in our memories and inner life. In the next example the man has not only come to terms with his mother’s and his own death, but also found this inner reality. Example: A dark grey sugar loaf form materialised. This pillar lightened in shade as I watched. It didn’t move. I began to think it was Mrs Molten who died in 1956.
The feeling grew stronger but still the colour lightened. Then it bent over and kissed my head. In that instant I knew it was my mother.
An ecstatic joy and happiness such as I have never known on earth suffused me. That happiness remained constantly in mind for the next few days’ (Mr M).
A project, a dream, or plans for the future will come to a dead stop. Other symbols in the dream should reveal whether you need to scrap these plans entirely or go back to the beginning and start over.
To dream of a deadline suggests a feeling of pressure to perform; it indicates an unhealthy attitude to your work or job. Difficulty meeting a deadline within a dream shows an unconscious desire to be free. Obvious deadlines, met with ease, indicate the ability to find emotional freedom from the pressures of work thus allowing you to continue in your job whilst maintaining balance in your personal life.
You don’t know how to proceed, you have no solutions. This can be a positive image if you see yourself turn back. Learn from old mistakes. Often the image appears in fearful situations where you are being pursued. This fear can be overcome if you understand that you need to turn around (or back out) in order to free yourself.
If such a fear-based dream image appears, experiment with different behaviors. Changing your behavior almost always leads out of the dead-end situation.
The experience of a dead-end street is, from a developmental point of view, absolutely essential.
In a dream, a doorman represents a royal person or a powerful man. Ifone sees himselfin a dream as a doorman, and ifhe employs a servant to assist him in the dream, it means that he will climb to a powerful position.
To see oneself as the king’s doorman in a dream means debts, but if one finds himself working as the prince’s doorman or door attendant, it means occupying a seat of authority. (Also see Keeper of the gate)
A chronic disease which is characterized by the enlargement of certain parts of the body, especially the legs and gentiles. In a dream, an elephant man represents love for the world from the wrong angle.
To dream about a fireman’s pole represents security and stability. You ou should let others help you when you are faced with a difficult decision or situation - you will get all the support you need if you just ask.
See Angel, Ocean. Living life from the depths of the soul and emotions, because fish live in the depths of the sea. Feeling like “a fish in water”—being in one’s element. One feature of fish is their wholeness, since they live exclusively in water (the emotional sphere). Fish are usually voracious eaters and immensely productive. They have no eyelids, sleep with their eyes open, and are always attuned to the world around them. Some fish change their colors according to the circumstances. They are creatures of high sensibility, but they are also cold and can’t be held. In a broader sense, the symbolism of the astrological sign of the fish is also relevant here, where oceanic feelings, trust and mistrust, and the contradictions of willpower and self-defense are at issue. Also, chaos and the absurd belong here, as well as faith—including superstition and disbelief.
If you see yourself fishing, what did you catch? A small fish indicates small Booty: a big fish, big booty.
The fisherman is trying to catch the content of the soul. Since ancient times, in China fish have been a sign of fertility. As far back as Babylonian times, fish appearing in dreams were considered phallic symbols. According to 2nd century dream interpreter Artemidorus, a dead fish represents lost hope.
The fish is also a Christian symbol.
The point when Spring entered the constellation of the fish coincided with the beginning of Christianity.
The salmon of wisdom is part of Irish mythology.
In psychoanalysis, the fish is a symbol of male sexuality- According to Jung, if you are the fish, you can renew yourself in the Water (emotions). Also, according to Jungian psychoanalysis, the fish is the symbol of wholeness. It symbolizes the total person of the dreamer and, more to the point, the emotional side of sexuality. Jung also believed that fish are like thoughts and hunches, which surface from the unconscious. (In the fairy tale “The Fisherman and His Wife,” we find the 44 wishing-fish.”)
1- Whenever one of our dream figures is earning out a specific action we need to look at what is represented by that action. Often a fisherman will represent a provider, or perhaps bravery, as with a deep- sea fisherman, whilst a fresh water fisherman may indicate the need for rest and recuperation.
2- Within a situation in our lives we may be trying to ‘catch’ something, such as a job or a partner.
3- Because of its Christian connection a fisherman can suggest a priest in dreams.
To dream of a fisherman indicates that you are approaching a period of prosperity greater than any you have known. This dream could also indicate that there is something in your life that you are attempting to seize.
Dreams about a fisherman This is about your ability to care for yourself, and knowing how to access the resources you need to survive and thrive. Perhaps it’s time to pass on what you know to others and teach them to fish for themselves.
Because of its christian connection a fisherman can symbolize a priest or holy man in dreams. Equally, he is one who has the patience to sit out a situation without anticipating any particular outcome.
Material aspects: Whenever one of our dream figures is carrying out a specific action we need to look at what is represented by that action. Often a fisherman will represent a provider, or perhaps bravery, as with a deep-sea fisherman, whilst a fresh water fisherman may indicate the need for rest and recuperation.
(Fruit) In a dream, a fruit salesman represents a trustworthy 180 person who is entrusted with people’s money and confidentiality. In dream interpretation, a fruit salesman also represents a good person unless he takes money for his fruits. Seeing a fruit salesman in a dream is also interpreted as listening to a worthwhile lecture or listening to a touching sermon or hearing an official report from the government delivered by a special announcer, or it could mean marriage, children, fast comingmoney and worthwhile efforts. (Also see Fruit)
To dream about a German Shepherd indicates your instincts to guard the ones you love. You cannot afford to doubt yourself or give up control.
To dream that you are training a German Shepherd indicates that you are willing to listen to new thoughts and concepts or that you are easily convinced. You could be seeking some assurance from others.
If he has merchandise or crops, it will increase or decrease according to the amount of hair he had seen.
If he sees the hair shining he will become a destitute if he is wealthy. Or he will become wealthy if he is a destitute; if he is perturbed, he will become pleased; if he is ill, he will be cured; if he is in debt, it will be paid.
To see one of the children of Adam (uwbp) one does not recognize in the dream perhaps may represents oneself. Ifhe does good, then it represents one’s own deeds, and if does evil, the seer may pursue the same. Ifone recognizes such a being in the dream, it means that he will receive something from him. Ifone likes what he receives from him in the dream, it means that he will attain his personal goals. Ifhe receives a shirt in the dream, it means an appointment to a high ranking position.
If he receives a rope in the dream, it means an agreement, a commitment or a covenant.
If he takes money from him in the dream, it represents something he will lose and forgo in despair, or perhaps that a fight will take place between them. Each human being in a dream represents himself, his kind, look alike, someone by the same name, his town, or his craft.
If the person whom he recognizes in the dream holds an elevated rank, it means that he will lose it, and if he holds a lower rank, it means that he will be promoted. (Also see Man; Mankind)
It symbolises a persons’ wealth and assets. Eating the brain in the dream suggest that he is living off his own lawful earnings. Eating someone else’s brain or an animal’s brain suggest that he is living off someone else’s earning.
An extremely old symbolism of the hunter or huntsman is linked with death, particularly a death containing an aspect of ritual killing or sacrifice. This ‘making sacred’ and an understanding of the process of ritualized killing is part of the spiritual journey.
Material aspects: Dreaming of being hunted is mostly taken to be to do with our sexuality.
To dream of a hunt is to register the necessity for a change of state in everyday life.
To be hunting a boar, for instance, could have two interpretations: firstly, to eradicate the boring parts of our lives, and secondly, to root out the uncouth part of our personality. Other animals will have their own symbolism.
Gives gender - specific: In a man’s dream the hunter pursuing his quarry is an image drawn from chivalrous times and epitomizes his struggle for his lady’s favour. In a woman’s dream she will become the hunted one.
1- Dreaming of being hunted is mostly taken lo be to do with one’s sexuality. Its even older meaning is linked with death, particularly a death containing an aspect of ritual killing or sacrifice. By association therefore, to dream of a hunt is to register the necessity for a change of state in everyday life.
To dream of being a huntsman alerts us to the part of ourselves which can be destructive and vicious.
Death and destruction, but in a ritualised setting is part of the spiritual journey VVe must ‘kill off” that part of ourselves which prevents us from going forward.
Dreams of a kleptomaniac symbolize that you grappling with a distorted sense of justice, feelings of lack, insatiability, and the need to take what isn’t yours out of a fear that you will be left empty handed or with the short end of the stick. This dream reflects extreme opportunism.
To see life-insurance men in a dream, means that you are soon to meet a stranger who will contribute to your business interests, and change in your home life is foreshadowed, as interests will be mutual.
If they appear distorted or unnatural, the dream is more unfortunate than good.
(Person) When a man is recognized in a dream, he is the same person in wakefulness, or it could be his brother, or a person with the same resemblance or name.
If he takes something valuable or cherished from the person having the dream, it means the opposite, and one will receive from such a man what he wishes for in wakefulness. Ifhe takes a shirt or a rope in the dream, it means that he will accept a promise from the person seeing the dream.
If he takes a child away from him, it means enmity between the two. As explained under ‘Human being’ p. 217, seeing the children ofAdam in a dream is an exalted thing in general. Each category of people conveys a different interpretation.
The category of rulers and judges in a dream means courts.
The category of government authorities represents fear. Soldiers mean travels. Craftsmen in a dream mean profits, or they could represent their respective trades. Women in a dream signify temptation, while pious people represent devotion. (Also see Human beingrMankind)
All different kinds of people clutter our dream landscape.
The men in your dream may include family members or total strangers. You may dream about your father, son, husband, or friend and should interpret the dream according to its details.
A man, particularly the father figure, may represent collective consciousness and the traditional human spirit. He is the Yang and his energy, when mobilized, creates the earthly realities. Depending on the details of the dream, the masculine figure could be interpreted as the Creator or Destroyer. At times, women dream about men that are strangers to them. These men may represent the women’s unconscious psychic energy. Carl Jung called the stranger in a woman’s dream the “animus.” He represents autonomous, unconscious energy and he plays a vital role in obtaining a deeper understanding of self. At times, a strange and ominous man in men’s dreams could represent their “shadow” or their negativity and darker sides of personality. See also: People, Woman
Example: ‘I was walking down the steps of a house, leading into the front area of the basement. I was with a man, perhaps a friend. At the bottom of the steps a psychiatrist was talking to a male client. They were having a session there in the open. I sensed the man’s feelings of embarrassment and exposure. But I felt it was necessary to be thus exposed, i.e. the psychiatrist was purposely holding the session in the open so the man could leam to relax’ (Bernard O). Bernard, a practising therapist, is all of the men in the dream. It portrays the interaction between different parts of himself.
The T walking down the steps is the active, fairly adventurous person Bernard sees himself as; the man following—a fnend—is a man Bernard knows who has sexual difficulties, and represents Bernard’s own sexual hesitations; the psychiatrist is Bernard’s therapeutic skill used in his own life, the male client is Bernard’s difficult feelings when dealing with groups of peo- pie—the public—which he is trying to expose’ or get to know and transform.
Generally, a man depicts an aspect of self—even in a woman’s dream—depending on the activity and character of the man in the dream. Any indication whatsoever in the dream gives a clue to what aspect of self. In the example, the character of the friend, the role of the psychiatrist and the feelings of the client indicate which aspects of Bernard s character are being dealt with. Therefore a man trying to rape a woman would be her fears about sex; a homosexual would depict those feelings; a businessman, one’s work or business abilities; a loving man, one’s feelings about love, and so on.
Older man: father or one’s accumulated experience and wisdom; perhaps even wisdom from the unconscious if man is white haired or holy. Wild, ape, half animal man: urges which have not yet been integrated and socialised, usually pertaining to sexuality in today’s social attitudes or natural social feelings at odds with present attitudes.
Man in woman’s dream: in general, a woman’s ability to question conventional behaviour and social habits; her strength to look with insight into her own life and change it thereby—but not her feeling values, emotions and intuitions, her creative or business ability in the world, and power to be competitive and challenging, her defence against just knowing’ out of the power of her emotions and inbuilt prejudices. Man she knows or loves: feelings, worries about relationship. Dreaming the man is looking at other women or leaving is usually fears about same. Two men: might be a triangle.
Idioms: man to man; be a man; front man; hit man; make a man of; odd man out; right hand man. See family; woman; and other entries pertaining to particular roles or age.
Vision: Seeing an old man: it’s difficult right now, but relax; you’ll get good advice and, if you follow it, your problems will be over.
A fat man in a woman’s dream: a certain man is worshiping the ground you walk on. Seeing a young man; discomfort and stress in the near future. Men seeing a man without a head: you are acting without thinking and need to change that quickly. Women dreaming about men means they have secret sexual desires.
A man dreaming about women means he is in conflict with himself—it is time for some soul-searching.
Depth Psychology: In women’s dreams a man usually stands for her secret, erotic, and sexual desires. In men’s dreams, a woman stands for how he sees and judges himself.
To dream of a man represents male attributes that you may possess – particularly the side that is hostile, pushy, logical, and spirited.
If the man is known to you, then this dream may be focusing on how you perceive the particular man.
If you are a woman and dream that you are in the arms of a man, this implies that you are acknowledging your masculine traits. Perhaps you are longing to have a meaningful partnership and this is the type of man you desire.
To see an old man in your dream symbolizes intelligence and the ability to offer absolution to those you have transgressed.
In general dreams of a man represent masculine energy, power, force, initiation, strength, manifesting, decisiveness, and the focus to make things happen in the world. This can also represent the masculine energy within a man or woman.
If you dream of a man you know, then consider the qualities he represents and who he means to you. See Husband, Father, Brother and King.
Any man appearing in a dream shows an aspect or facet of our character in a recognizable form. Each of us has a repertoire or portfolio of behaviours, some of which are acceptable and some of which are not. In dreams those behaviours and characteristics can be magnified so that they are easily identified, often as personalities. By working with the characteristic, more energy and power becomes available. Even when we are threatened by a negative character trait, we can still access room for improvement.
A man in a dream can identify the shadow for a man, and the animus for a woman.
An older man (if the man is white-haired or holy) can represent the innate wisdom we all have. Such a person can also signify the father in dreams. When a large man appears in our dreams we are usually appreciating the strengths, certainties and protection that our basic beliefs give us.
A man in a woman’s dream signifies the more logical side of her nature. She has, or can develop, all the aspects of the masculine that enable her to function with success in the external world.
If the man is one she knows or loves she may be trying to understand her relationship with him.
An unknown man is generally that part of the dreamer’s personality that is not recognized. In a woman’s dream it is the masculine side of herself, and in a man’s dream it is the self.
To see a man in your dream, reflects the masculine aspect of yourself - the side that is assertive, rational, aggressive, and/or competitive.
If the man in your dream is known to you, then the dream may reflect your feelings, hopes or concerns about him.
If you dream of being embraced by a man you don’t done, this suggests that you are accepting and welcoming the stronger, more assertive side of your personality . It may also highlight your desires to be in a relationship and your image of the ideal man.
To see an old man in your dream, represents wisdom or forgiveness.
The Arabic word for pudenda is farj which connotes openness, vastness, ease, comfort, luxury, joy and relief after sorrow. Thus, if an man sees himself with one it means comfort, affluence and joy after sorrow.
If he sees himself being copulated in the pudenda by some known person it means his needs will be fulfilled by that person but after much humiliation. And f the person is not known to him it suggest humiliation and disgrace.
To dream of swimming with a manatee indicates a warm and gentle personality. Multiple manatees suggest it may be time for some rest and relaxation, and possibly even a trip to a warmer climate. There is also a suggestion of a little sadness.
To dream of a manatee mother and baby advises you to be loving and soft to yourself at this time.
This is any circle or square within which shapes, objects or other symbols appear.
The mandala can be a square garden with round pond in it—square with circle in, etc. It depicts what we have done with our life, what qualities or balance we have achieved through our own effon or self responsibility. It shows whether we have dared meet the darkness and light in our nature and bnng balance, whether we have found the courage to have our boundaries of thought and viewpoint split asunder by a greater vision or despair, and what we have done with the pieces of wonder and pain we have found. See spiral below in this entry.
If one could produce a graphic image of the whole of human nature, many different forms might be integrated within an overall shape, perhaps a circle or square. Also, if it were possible to have a visual presentation of a person’s inner world of mind, weaknesses, strengths, order, confusion and quality, each person would appear differently. Some would be internally jumbled, divided and ugly, others symmetrical, integrated and beautiful.
Because the unconscious produces dreams, and because dreams are imagery which give form to the otherwise abstract elements of internal human nature, there anse in some dreams shapes or patterns which depict an overall view of one s own inner condition. Carl Jung drew attention to the circle and square designs in some dreams, calling them man- dalas, and seeing them as representing the nucleus of the human identity. Although we are, in our everyday life, the magical and mysterious process of life, it is difficult for us actually to answer the question ‘Who am I?’ or ‘What am I?’ with any lasting conviction.
The mysterious essence of ourself is met in dreams as a circular or square object or design, as the sun, a flower, a square garden with a round pond in the middle, or a circle with a square or quartered design within it, a circle with a cross within, a revolving or flying cross-shaped object. Classical symbols from all nations use this theme; and we can find it in the round table of King Arthur, in the centre of which the Holy Grail appeared; the healing sand paintings of the Na- vaho Indians, the zodiac; circle dances; stone circles; the Buddhist wheel of birth and death; and so on.
The circle usually symbolises a natural wholeness, our inner life as nature has shaped it.
The square shows wholeness we have helped shape by conscious cooperation with our m- neT world. There are two main reasons why one produces this theme in one’s dreams. It occurs in children or people meeting internal or external shocks, and produces a strengthening of the vulnerable identity in meeting the vaned influences they face. It arises in people who are meeting and integrating the wider life of their being existing beyond the boundaries of their usual interests, or what they allow themselves to experience.
The contact with the self is then pan of an extending of awareness into what was dark or unknown, not only in our own unconscious, but in external life. In touching the nucleus of one’s being in this way, one becomes aware in some measure of the infinite potential of one’s life. There is often an accompanying sense of existence in eternity and the many different mansions’ or dimensions of experience one has within the eternal. See the self under archetypes; shapes.
1- The mandala is a sacred shape which is so powerful that it is found in one form or another in most religions. Typically, it is a circle enclosing a square with a symbol in the centre representing the whole of life. It is mostly used as an aid to meditation.
The principle is that one travels from the outer circle (which stands for the whole of existence) through the creation of matter the square to the centre of existence the central figure. Finally, one moves back out to take one’s place in material existence again. It is often consciously depicted as an eight- pointed star, and represents both man’s aspirations and his burdens. It often appears in dreams in this form, and can then become a personal symbol of the journey from chaos to order. It has also been found that, in a healing process, this symbol will occur over and over again. It is seen more frequently in Eastern religions, often as ornate pictures or patterns.
2- Jung judged this figure to be an important part of psychological wholeness.
The word means ‘circle’, and he saw the mandala as being an archetypal expression of the soul. In dreams this figure often appears without the dreamer knowing what it represents. It is only when it is drawn afterwards that it is recognised as a mandala. This would suggest that it is a true expression of the dreamer’s individuality and of his connection with Unity, whatever lie sees this to be.
3- When ego and individuality are understood, the soul searches for representation.
The expression of wholeness and vet separateness in this figure moves us into a space which enables us to create a whole new concept of the principles of existence. Often, by creating and recreating this figure, we move towards and experience a wholeness and tranquillity which would not otherwise be available.
The particular shape, number of sides, and colours in the mandala will be significant (see Shape, Numbers and Colour).
The mandala seen in dreams can become a gauge for spiritual progression.
An image or symbol usually featured within a circle or oval shape as a map of the cosmos used for meditation. In dreams, this is usually more personal, being an emblematic expression of your feelings or a growing awareness. Here, the circle represents a natural cycle or possibly fate’s web, within which you’re presently operating.
The emblem contained therein becomes the prevalent dream key.
A mandala is an intricate design made up of intertwining elements in a pattern that brings together spintual forces of energy. In a dream, a mandala represents unification. Sometimes displayed as pictorial representations that weave a story of creation or that represent the phases of life in a scheme of transcendence, a mandala represents the evolution of ideas.
The mandala is a sacred shape, which is so powerful that it is found in one form or another in most systems of belief, but most frequently in eastern religions. Typically, it is a circle enclosing a square with a symbol in the centre representing the whole of life. It is mostly used as an aid to meditation. It moves us into a space that enables us to create a whole new concept of the principles of existence.
Psychological / emotional perspective: In dreams this pattern often appears without us knowing what it really represents. It is only when it is drawn afterwards that is it recognizable as a mandala. This would suggest that it is a true expression of our individuality and connection with unity, whatever we consider this to be.
Material aspects: The mandala is often consciously depicted as an eight-pointed star and represents both man’s aspirations and his burdens. It often appears in recurring dreams in this form and then becomes a personal symbol of the journey from chaos to order. It has also been found that in a healing process this symbol will occur in dreams over and over again.
The particular shape, number of sides and colours in a mandala will be significant.
1- In olden times the mandrake root was taken to symbolise man. It was often used in magical ceremonies, and thus became significant in the same way that a voodoo doll can be significant. When the mandrake root or a manikin is recognised in a dream, we are linking in with our own wish to harm other people and with our conflict with someone else. Interestingly enough, the mandrake root is also a symbol of the Great Mother (see Introduction), and therefore represents feminine aspects. So, in witchcraft, the witch was in fact linking with the destructive powers of her own Self.
2- The significance of mandrake within a dream is that perhaps of word association. We are not necessarily dreaming of the root itself, but are trying to make sense of some aspect of the personality around us that appears not to be fully formed in some way.
3- The power of life and death in spiritual terms is our right to exist in a way that is commensurate with our own beliefs.
(Skin disease of domestic animals; Abacterial disease) In a dream, mangy represents pestilence or a plague.
If one sees himself struck by such a disease causing him to itch though no puss or malignant festering runs from his sores in the dream, it means that his troubles and adversities are caused by his own progeny or relatives.
If one’s body is afflicted with mangy in a dream, it means that his troubles will come from his friends or from his working environment.
If it strikes at his right hand or his cheek in a dream, then his adversities will come from his clan. Ifit strikes at his left hand, then his troubles will come from his business partner or brother.lfhis illness forms puss in the dream, it means hard earned money that will also cause headache. Such a disease means money for a poor person and it could mean leadership for a rich person. Following this trail of thinking, mangy or any skin disease in a dream signify less harm compared to other diseases.
If an employees experiences such skin disorder in a dream, it means that he does not qualify to work in that company.
If it is one’s son in the dream, it means that he will disobey his father concerning an undesired friendship.lfit is one’s wife in the dream, it means that she is engaged in something awful that will bring shame to the entire family.
To dream that you are getting a manicure, represents glamour and beauty. You are seeking attention for the work you have done. You may also be expressing something beautiful and positive through your work or creative talents.
(Conduct; Quality; Magnitude) The quality of humankind in a dream may represent the quality ofthe like creations. Thus, a beneficial bird may mean a praiseworthy person, a beast may represent the like quality in man, a harvest projecting a particular person denotes human qualities of a lesser magnitude, etcetera. (Also see Human being; Man)
(Food; Valuable gift; Unexpected favor) A gummy saccharine secretion found on a species of a Tamarisk tree.
A manna tree is also found in the Egyptian Sinai. Eating manna in a dream means receiving lawful money without any labor or hardships, or it could mean a favor and a bestowal by the grace of God Almighty. Seeing manna in a dream also means spending money on God’s path, or escaping from a fatal accident or danger. Exchanging manna for green sprouts and garlic in a dream means humiliation and poverty. Eating manna in a dream means earnings lawful money.
1- Manna represents food and therefore has the same significance as bread. It is food for the soul and food which is in some wav miracu- lous.
For this to appear in a dream usually represents the ability we have to transmute something from the ordinary’ to the sacred.
2- When we are seeking something, perhaps to change our lives in some wav, we often need external help when everything around us is going wrong and we are beset by- problems.
The symbolism of manna of the miraculous bread appearing is something which makes us realise that we can in fact carry on. This symbol of the miraculous appears in many- religions and therefore represents the aspect of ourselves that links with the Divine.
3- The Grace of God and his goodness is implicit in manna. We are in the right place at the right time for the right reasons.
To see a mannequin in your dream, represents an extension of your own self that you are projecting. You may feel that you are not playing an active enough role in some situation. Consider how the mannequin is dressed for clues as to what you may wish to act out, but have not done so.
A mansion in a city with huge windows is regarded as an excellent dream. Climbing such a mansion means the beholder will attain lofty positions during his lifetime. Good fortune and happiness are in store for him.
Although a house represents all the aspects of self in which our identity lives—a body, emotions, creativity, etc. —a mansion is depicting the same thing with a different emphasis. It is ourself as we are, plus features still latent, possibilities not yet developed or explored. See house in this entry.
To see a mansion in your dream, symbolizes your greatest potential and growth.
If you dream about living in or visiting a mansion, you may feel that your current situation or relationship is in a rut. But have hope - your dream is a positive omen that you will someday leave your home for a better place and you will be lucky in life and finance.
See MAGISTRATE. But this dream is more serious, and foretells family troubles and disagreements, whatever the ultimate issue may be. It is an unfortunate omen, even though you are acquitted and set free.
1- As with most insects, the mantis often represents something devious within our lives, that trickster part of us that can create problems when things arc effectively working out for us. It is that aspect of our personality which perhaps preys on the other parts and will not take its place within our overall integration.
2- In dreams, we often translate a quality or a situation we are struggling with into an object.
To be aware of the mantis may indicate that on some level we are aware of trickery around us.
3- The dreamer should look carefully at the appearance of a mantis as it represents deviousness, particularly of an emotional kind.
1- The Mantra is the creation of a sound, corresponding to a name or an aspect of god, and is a creative vibration. Often it is three syllables long, and is an aid to becoming closer to the centre of both oneself and the universe. In dreams it is frequently first heard as the sound of one’s own name (See Name), and can be developed from there. It is (or rather becomes) the personal ‘key’ to universal knowledge.
2- The intense concentration and repetition needed to fill the mind with one concept of whichever God one believes in couplcd with a sense of spiritual union is a conscious activity designed to achieve a state of restful alertness.
If dreams arc considered to be alert restfulness, the use of Mantra can have a profound effect on the dream state in allowing us to be more focused in our dreaming. We are thus able to accept the spontaneity of the images evoked by Mantra when they also appear in dreams.
3- Spiritually, sound repeated over and over induces a change of consciousness and awareness. Mantra permits this to be positive and opens up possibilities for enhanced wisdom and knowledge.

(Dung; Excrement) Manure represents money for one who eats it, or for one who collects it in his house or in a barn in his dream. Any animal excrements that are used to fertilize the soil, or if they are used as fuel represent profits when seen in a dream and particularly dried dung. Pigeons’ droppings, or the refuse of any type of fowl in a dream represent unlawful money. Cow dung in a dream is a sign of prosperity and a good harvest for farmers only. (Also see Droppings; Dung)
In some ways our personality or identity is like a plant which feeds from the most unlikely material to produce beautiful leaves and flowers.
The plant can transform manure into living leaves and petals. Our identity feeds on experience and information, some of which may appear uninviting, painful or unwholesome. In fact our experience may be all of these, and be depicted in dreams as manure, and if not put to our roots—our process of becoming aware of things in an intensely felt manner which links feelings with intellectual insight—remain a disintegrating influence. Learning processes which pile intellectual information on children or adults without helping them to allow their deep feeling responses, are piling manure on the psyche while cutting off its roots. Personal disintegration is the result.
1- Some of the experiences which we have to go through can be painful or downright unwholesome.
If we do not manage to understand what has happened to us and make use of it as part of our growth proccss, we can often find that those experiences remain within our subconscious and cause difficulty later on. These bad experiences may appear as manure within a dream and alert us to the fact that we should be breaking down our problems and making positive use of them.
2- Manure can represent something which is disintegrating in our lives.
To be aware for instance, of a pile of manure in an inappropriate position would indicate that we have something in our lives which will have to disintegrate, to change form before it can be used properly.
3- Manure can be seen also as the prelude to spiritual breakdown. This docs not have to be a negative thing as a rebuilding process is often what is required to enable us to find solutions to current problems.
Vision: Looking at manure (a pile of it) means great success in business affairs.
The bigger the manure pile, the greater your wealth. Spreading manure: pending actions will have great results. Stepping in a manure pile means good luck. Take advandage of the opportunities that are coming your way. Toiling in manure: success and wealth through hard work. See Excrement, Mud.
Depth Psychology: Manure/garbage can create something new. Past experiences make it possible for you to grow in a positive way and develop your personality.
little fish in round container: could be sperm, or depict becoming, or wanting to become, pregnant. Example: ‘Last week I suddenly started having a recurring dream. In it I woke, walked downstairs, went into the kitchen and looked in the kettle. It was full of little fish’ (Karen).
The fact that Karen goes ‘downstairs’, suggesting the lower part of her body, and the shape of the kettle, which is a round container, make it likely this dream is about pregnancy. See Christ under archetypes; religion and dreams, sea. Idioms: big fish, big fish in a small pond; cold fish; fishing for compliments; fish out of water, queer fish; smell something fishy.
In mythology, the marksman / hunter is often depicted as a centaur, the wild rider. Today he would be seen as the cowboy in Western movies. In antiquity, the feminine equivalent was the Amazon. Human enthusiasm and concentration is part of the dream image that is integrated with the intensity of the animalistic “fire.” The hunter craves a goal, which can refer to nostalgia and wanderlust; however, the goal is always also “he himself.” See Arrow, Goal.
If a person sees himself marrying an unknown young man, it means he will gain victory over his enemy. But if he is known and there is no enmity between them then he the “bridge” will acquire some goodness from either the “groom” or someone who resembles him in name or personality.

1- Traditionally, the mermaid or merman belongs to the sea as well as being able lo exist on land. This symbolically represents an ability to be deeply emotional and also entirely practical. Until these two separate parts are properly integrated, the human being cannot fully exist in either realm.
2- Mermaids and mermen arc feminine and masculine representations of the link between the darker forccs which we do not necessarily understand and the conscious self. Many stories exist of the human’s attempt to mate or link with these creatures of the sea. Most end in hurt and distress for one party or the other. This is an example of how difficult it is to integrate the two sides of our nature.
3- Each individual must bring about integration between the spiritual self and the emotional self before there can be wholeness.
The mermaid and merman symbolize the ability to integrate the spiritual aspects of the personality with the emotional. In being part fish and part human, they also symbolize the evolutionary journey from pure instinct to wisdom.
Psychological / emotional perspective: Mermaids and mermen are feminine and masculine representations of the link between the darker forces – which we do not necessarily understand – and the conscious self. In dreams the mermaid epitomizes how difficult it is to integrate the two sides of our nature. This lack of integration can result in capriciousness.
The merman, however, is said to be less ‘intrigued’ by humans so, therefore, represents unification, but in a way that is more isolated.
Material aspects: Traditionally, the mermaid or merman belongs to the sea as well as being able to exist on land. This symbolically represents an ability to be deeply emotional and also entirely practical. Until these two separate parts are properly integrated, the human being cannot fully exist in either the emotional or practical realms.
Gives gender - specific: Many stories exist of the human’s attempt to mate or link with these creatures of the sea, though the merman is less fascinated than his counterpart by humans. Most attempts end in hurt and distress for one party or the other and men’s dreams of such a creature of fantasy in particular can reflect this. Women’s dreams may contain an element of coming to terms with her own capriciousness.
Witnessing the military in action in a dream may comment that you feel you are living on a battleground, perhaps with some relationship or at work. It can also represent that you may have battle scars from childhood that you need to take a look at more closely.

Father figure, authority, and person of respect—in short, a symbol for the superego.
A feeling of oppression and dissatisfaction, possibly a sign of immature masculinity. This dream image points to the danger of an impersonal and abstract consciousness. It challenges you to find out if you have a mind of your own or are strictly submitting to an authoritarian direction. Does law and order play a big role in your life? Or would you rather be a friend and helper? Maybe you should bring more of your own personality and opinions into the game. Take a chance, be more liberated and more responsible.

If you are a woman, this stranger may be symbolic of different parts of your character or personality. Carl Jung believed that the unknown woman in a man’s dream is the Anima. It is the “personification of the animated psychic atmosphere; the autonomous activity of the unconscious.” Thus, when you meet an unknown woman in your dreams, pay close attention to what she is saying and doing. It is Carl Jung who suggested that women in dreams represent our collective unconscious and men collective consciousness. Thus, the woman is that force or current inside of you that nudges you on and inspires you. It is your intuition and the knowledge that in not necessarily attached to words. Men, on the other hand, represent the active part that uses the information received to create the physical reality of our lives. When the two are working together well we have balance and experience awareness that leads to peace and productivity. See also: People, Old Woman, and Mother
Example: 41 gave birth to a baby girl I named Charlotte. I had mixed emotions about this, uncertainty, excitement. I wanted to share the news with my friends. I phoned one, a woman in Australia. I told her with enthusiasm, but she listened quietly and remained silent. I felt uneasy, then she said “We lost Luke”—her son—”the week before.” I then woke with muddled feelings’ (Mo).
A woman in a woman’s dream: an aspect of herself, but often a facet of herself she is not immediately identifying with.
The above example helps make this plain. Mo explored her feelings about the dream characters. It all fell into place when she asked herself what she had ‘lost’ recently. She had left a lover of some years’ standing. This gave her a lot more freedom and new opportunity, depicted by the baby, but also muddled feelings of loss. Her Australian friend represents her feelings of grieving for the death’ of her relationship. Her muddled feelings arise because she both loves the new life which opens up, but grieves for the death of her romance.
A woman’s sister, female children: particularly used to represent herself.
The character of the dream woman, loving, angry, businesslike, lazy, sexual, gives a clue to what pan of the dreamer it is referring to.
If the dream woman is a person known well, the above can still be the case, but the woman may represent what the dreamer feels about that person.
A woman younger than the dreamer oneself at that age.
An older woman: could be the dreamer’s mother, her feelings about aging, her sense of inherited wisdom. Two women and the dreamer, conflicting feelings or drives. One woman, one man: behaviour patterns arising from parental relationship.
A goddess or holy woman, the dreamer’s highest potential; what she is capable of but may not yet have lived.

Example: ‘On a raised mobile platform a goddess stood. I loved her and (lew to her, skimming above the heads of the people. I calked to her. She told me the only love I could receive from her was that which I gave to a human woman. Inasmuch as I gave love to a human female, she would love me. She was all women’ (Andrew P).
The example shows Andrew meeting his archetypal conception of a woman, his ideal. But he understands that you cannot love an ideal. His love must find a real woman. Through a real love he would call love from out of himself, out of his unconscious reserve.
In a man’s dream: his present relationship with his own feelings and intuitive self; his sensitivity and contact with his unconscious through receptivity; or how he is relating to his female partner.
The latter is especially so if the woman in the dream is his partner, how capable he is of loving a woman.
An old woman, usually the dreamer’s mother.
The woman, because she is his feelings, is obviously also his sexual desires and how he meets them.
A younger woman: can depict his desires for a woman of that age, or his more vulnerable emotions. Two women and the dreamer: an ‘eternal triangle’; conflicting feelings.
If one woman and one man: pattern of behaviour developed in relationship with parents.
The conditions or situations of the woman, see under appropriate entries, such as illness; murder, swimming; etc. See anima and the Great Mother under archetypes.
If a woman dreams about women, it is almost always about her shadow and seldom about herself.
If a man dreams about a woman, he is dreaming about his emotional side, which, in the end, is about his connection to his mother. In the case of a man, the behavior of the woman in the dream often gives insight into his unconscious life, his unknown characteristics, physical urges, and behavior.
According to ancient Egyptian dream interpretation, the image of a beautiful woman is always a warning that a task is too large.

Women also appear in many dreams as old and wise (woman or hag), lecherous (threatening or liberated), imprisoned (like Rapunzel’s trapped physical drive), ugly (as a witch), young (as a temptress), powerful (as the mother), and beautiful (the lover, the ideal).
